What does a British person have to do to stay in France after Brexit?

The provisions of the Withdrawal Agreement apply to British nationals and their family members residing in or settling in France before 31 December 2020.

Although the UK's withdrawal took place on 1 February 2020, the Withdrawal Agreement provides for a transition period until 31 December 2020. During this transition period, all rights of British nationals acquired as EU nationals are maintained.

Under the Withdrawal Agreement from the European Union, you will have to apply for a new residence permit before 1 July 2021.

The residence permit will be compulsory from 1 October 2021.
